Ice Cream Truck!

We have an ice cream truck in Hays this summer, The Brain Freeze!!! It has been down our block a few times and it is just as I remember...kids screaming and chasing it down the street. Summer is sweet!

Can it get any hotter?

I do NOT want to wish away the summer...but I would love for the temperature to be under 100 so we can at least go outside without frying. The only activity we enjoyed this weekend was sitting in the baby end of the CC pool with only our heads sticking out of the water...with margaritas in our hands.

A Flippin' Good Time

Here he goes...
Griffin's new trick off the board...front flip!
Smile for the camera Gavin!

BELLY FLOP!!
As you can see...my kids have a real fear of water! We try to go to the pool as often as possible...as the summer goes on they are getting more creative off the board.

Time for Fireworks!!

Kids Cooperating...

Kids NOT cooperating!

Do we have enough?

Time to eat...You'll never guess who cooked?!

As is tradition, we had fireworks at our house for the 4th with friends and family. It was a little chilly...Dad made good use of the Snuggie, LOL! The fireworks were above and beyond years past. We were falling asleep while they were lighting the last ones around midnight.

Parade

Mom explaining how to make it work!

Why must I make everything so difficult? I am on the Blues, BBQ and Bargains Committee putting together a festival in downtown Hays for next weekend. It involves a bbq competition, concerts, car show and a sidewalk sale...and A LOT of work. We had an entry in the parade and the night before I decided a truck was just too boring and Mom, Renae and I decided to decorate a grill. The original idea was to have fake flames flying off the grill with fans underneath. Well, that didn't work so we decided on cardboard flames and hot glue'd red tissue paper to it. They don't call it "hot" glue for nothing! lol Mom and I ended up with blisters and Renae got burned by Mom grabbing on to her as her finger was burning! After all that work...the parade weather was overcast and windy so you could barley see all our hard work.

July 4th Golf Champions

The Winning Team
Mom, Dad, Marcus and Gavin played in the family golf tourney at Smoky Hill this weekend and kicked butt!! The golf balls they won just weren't enough...so they "made" a trophey for themselves from one Grandma Jan already had, lol! Way to Go Team!!

Saturn Missle Soccer

This is how Griffin occupied his time.
One of Gavin's friends asked him to be on a 3v3 soccer team for the Wild West Fest tournament despite the fact Gavin has never played soccer?! After a couple of weeks of convincing, he said he would play. I was amazed at how well he did after only practicing once. The schedule was a little rough...game times were 7:30, 8:30, 9:30 and 11:30 AM!! It was an early morning that made for a long day...we went back to bed around 3pm for an extended nap. Great Job Saturn Missiles!!

Friday Night Fun

The LoCash Cowboys put on a show!!
The Witthuhn/Willey/Schumacher Crew
Friday night was the locash cowboys concert and all 3 generations were jamming out having a blast. They really know how to get everyone on their feet. Griffin took a brief nap with Marcus but ended up partying until midnight dancing to the music. I hope they come back again next year!

Wild West Fest

Griff riding the "baby" rides...not happy about it.

The Wild West Fest is in full swing and we took full advantage of it last night. It was armband night at the carnival so the kids rode rides for almost 4 hours! I wanted to throw up just watching them. John Michael Montgomery performed at 9:30 and he played all the good songs...still remembered all the words! It wouldn't have been a night out without a corn dog, nachos, popcorn, pizza and a funnel cake. Poor Griffin was exhausted from all the fun and missed a majority of the concert after cuddling up with Grandma. Three more days of fun coming up...
